Farewell Spit

The longest sand spit with a distance of 25km is located at the Western tip of the South Island. It is a renowned bird sanctuary enriched with migrating birds and the perfect location for breeding activity. Main attractions include a historic lighthouse, seals, caves, islands and arches that form Wharariki Beach before dissolving in a series of rolling hills, swamps and lakes.

Te Waikoropupu Springs

A 2-hour drive from INNBETWEEN, The Te Waikoropupu Springs are the largest freshwater springs in New Zealand and have some of the clearest water in the world. Considered a treasure to New Zealand, ‘Pupu Springs’ is a scenic reserve with a calming and peaceful bush walk to the main viewing platforms.

Buller Gorge Adventure and Heritage Park

West of Murchison and a few hours of drive from Nelson, is the Buller Gorge Swingbridge. This is a good 1-day trip if you are keen on exploring the outskirts of Nelson.
